lyrics

Room To Room

No longer thinking I plunge reeling into empty days
Tired of sleeping I slip into evenings watching revealing documentaries
Like 'Weed It And Reap' and how Hitler's dog Blondie contributed to the Nazi leaders decline and eventual defeat
And I sip the very cheapest wine they'll stoop to deem to sell me in Sainsbury's
Sniffing in that peculiar scent of misery so particular to February

Now blind to the symmetry of this being thatness and that being thisness
We complied with the moon and let her undress us
And now live alone in our separate hearts
Divided by oceans and vast arteries of cars
And that airplane loneliness where the closer you get
The further away you realize you actually are from the stars
Keeping up appearances for the air stewardess
Because despair can lead to terrorism

Room to room

From room to room in pre-dusk, post afternoon gloom
I walk among things, my worldly belongings
My coke bottle alarm clock that dances and sings
My books, my guitar with all those songs in the strings
All those possible connections of vibratings
All that you can create out of absolutely nothing
And I'll still sometimes do that childish thing
Of staring at something for so long it looses its meaning
And I'll float for a while in timeless bliss
Until the sound of my own breathing brings me back to this explicitness
And all this confusion it just keeps me moving
